General Statement of Purpose of the Public Policy Team, St. John the Baptist Parish

As Christians and Episcopalians, our role is to be a learning group and a conduit to our parish concerning public policies and legislation, particularly at the local and state level but also with interest on the national level.  We seek to coordinate and partner with our Deacon and Social Ministry Team.  We select issues, alerts, events, and actions that relate to our parish.  Additionally, we will provide information to parishioners through our newsletters and Sunday forums for deepening political awareness and engagement as people of faith.  In response to God’s charge to care for all creation, we work in furtherance of our baptismal covenant to:

Seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves;

Strive for justice and peace among all people, respecting the dignity of every human being.
